the 60gb is not on sale anymore (unless your looking on ebay or similar) if you want backbard compatibility your going to have to get the 80gb version as the 40gb version doesnt play ps2 games (but it does play ps1 games apparently)

Dude I say sell ps2 but not games, sell 360(and games), Keep PSPGET THE PS3 IT IS AMAZING AND THE 80GB IS THE BEST SO I WOULD SAY THAT IS THE ONE TO GET THAN DO THISUpdate using a PCRequired itemsPLAYSTATION®3 system SIXAXISâ„¢ wireless controller A USB cable A PC with Internet access Storage media (Memory Stickâ„¢, SD Memory Card, CompactFlash®)* or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive(At least 120 MB of free space required)* An appropriate USB adaptor (not included) is required to use storage media with some models. Update data download procedureCreate a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data.Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3†on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATEâ€.Download the update data and save it in the UPDATE folder created in step 1. Select here to start the download. NoticeBe sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3â„¢ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.Location: Save in the “PS3†folder > “UPDATE†folder File name: Save as file name “PS3UPDAT.PUPâ€. Update procedureNoticesDo not turn off the PS3â„¢ system or remove the storage media or USB device during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange. The power button on the PS3â„¢ system front is not active during an update. Insert the storage media or USB device that contains the update data in the PS3â„¢ system. From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the button.Select [Update via Storage Media], and then press the button. The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device. Start the update data.Press the button to start the update data. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update. Confirm that the update was successful. After the update has been completed, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information]. If the System Software field displays the version number of the update, the update was successful. HintYou can delete the update data from the storage media or USB device after the update has been successfully completed. THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU THE ABILITY TO PLAY ALMOST ALL PS2 GAMES (ALL BUT LIKE 3)WITH YOUR EXTRA MONEY GO OUT AND GET SOME GOOD GAMES OR A NICE HEADSETHOPE I HELPED

The 60 GB PS3 is discontinued, you can only buy it from private sellers...The 80 GB PS3 is much better then the 40 because the 40 is missing features to keep it cheap. Alot of stuff got cut out, like not being able to play PS2 Games.Sell everything you dont want , EXCEPT your PSP. The PSP is a PS3's best friend. Go to www.playstation.com and head into PS3 for more details..
